Cubs ready for Spring Training, Soto aims to earn role as starting catcher

Not much has happened since the last post I wrote here. Spring Training action is underway as the Cubs breezed past the Giants 12-6 in their first game. Just so the young guys get their time on the field and work on fundamentals, that's all that matters at this point. Of course it been a rough week for Mark DeRosa after being emitted to the hospital due to an irregular heart beat. He's back with the team and seems to be okay though. Lou is still pondering how to arrange the starting lineup by Opening Day. Lee, Soriano, and Ramirez will get their share of hacks in Spring Training and at the same time stay in good shape.

I've heard the Cubs are still trying to pursue Brian Roberts. He may be a nice fit over at second base, but I'd like to see Cedeno and Theriot can more playing time on the infield. They're both good hitters and will only become better with extended at-bats. It looks like the Cubs are doing fine for the start up of the Catcus League. Season tickets have already been released for sale and I can't wait to see what Interleague opponents they'll face in the schedule. Opening is only a month away!
